Berlin in spring: how one trip changed the way I see this city

I first visited Berlin back in 2023. And honestly? It felt gray and kind of depressing. I even made a vlog about it on YouTube. The city was fine, but it never really grabbed me. I left and didn't miss it much.

But in spring 2026 I came back, and it was a completely different Berlin. Everything was in bloom: the trees, the cafes, the people on the streets. It felt like the city had put on a new outfit and surprised even itself with how good it looked. That trip is exactly what inspired me to write what you're reading right now.
Who is this article for?

For those visiting Berlin for the first time and not sure where to start. For freelancers and digital nomads who want to mix travel with networking. For anyone who likes to travel with intention, not just tick boxes off a tourist list.
What I think is worth visiting: my personal list

Berlin is huge. Trying to see everything in one trip is a guaranteed way to enjoy nothing. Here is what I would choose if I had 3 to 4 days.

Brandenburg Gate. Yes, it's a tourist spot. Yes, there will be crowds with selfie sticks. But standing in front of it in the evening when it's all lit up, thinking about everything that happened here throughout history, that's a completely different feeling. A must.

East Side Gallery. What's left of the Berlin Wall, covered in world-class graffiti. Free entry, open 24 hours. Come in the morning before the crowds show up and just walk along it slowly. This is one of those places that leaves you understanding the city on a slightly deeper level.

Museum Island. Five world-class museums on a single island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Even if museums aren't really your thing, just walking around the island and taking in the architecture is absolutely worth it.

Hackescher Markt. One of my favorite spots. A lively square with cafes, small shops, and the kind of atmosphere that feels like the real Berlin. Perfect for sitting down with a coffee and just watching the city go by.
Where to stay: my choice and why

I spent these spring holidays at The Social Hub Berlin, and it was exactly what I needed.

I came alone, and what mattered to me wasn't just having a place to sleep but actually feeling like part of something. The Social Hub delivered exactly that. A very modern building, a unique design, and a genuinely warm atmosphere.
It's the perfect place for anyone who wants both quiet after a full day and the chance to meet new people. Something is always happening here: events, a lively lobby, people from different countries who share the same values. Freelancers, digital nomads, creative types — that's who stays here.

The location is great too. Alexanderplatz is about a ten minute walk away, public transport is right there, and everything feels central and easy to reach. If you're looking for a hotel where you don't just sleep but actually experience Berlin, I recommend  The Social Hub Berlin .
Networking while traveling: how I found my people

I was traveling alone on this trip. Which is exactly why The Social Hub worked so well, and not just as a place to stay. I posted a simple question on Threads: who from the creative world is in Berlin right now and wants to meet up? The response was surprisingly warm. Due to limited time I didn't make it happen this trip, but I'm already looking forward to organizing it next time. I also ended up at a photoshoot after connecting online with a photographer I met through Facebook.

Traveling solo doesn't mean traveling in isolation. Sometimes all it takes is one post to find people who are on the same wavelength as you.
A final thought: is Berlin worth coming back to?

Absolutely yes! Travel inspires and recharges you. I already knew that. But Berlin reminded me of it in a way that felt especially vivid. This city doesn't open up on the first visit. It takes time, the right season, and the right state of mind.
Come in spring. Come alone or with someone you feel good being around. Berlin doesn't shout about itself. It waits until you're ready to hear it.
I invite you to Instagram and YouTube.
